Dr. Arvinder Singh Accessibility Initiative improving educational accessibility for visually impaired students in Udaipur
30May

Dr. Arvinder Singh Accessibility Initiative continues to create meaningful change in the lives of persons with disabilities through projects focused on accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities. In a significant step toward improving educational accessibility, Dr. Arvinder Singh, Founder of Panacea Disability Activists, CEO of Arth Diagnostics, and a three-time world record holder, led a major accessibility project at Pragya Chakshu School for the Visually Impaired, Ambamata, Udaipur.

The initiative focused on creating a safer, more accessible, and independent learning environment for visually impaired students by introducing infrastructure designed to improve mobility and classroom accessibility.

The newly developed facilities were inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, Additional District Judge and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts being made to create inclusive educational opportunities for students with disabilities.

Dr. Arvinder Singh Accessibility Initiative Empowers Visually Impaired Students

As part of the project, a specially designed accessibility ramp equipped with safety railings has been constructed within the school premises. Previously, visually impaired students often faced challenges while using stairs, increasing the risk of falls and injuries.

The newly constructed ramp enables students to move around the campus more safely and independently.

To further strengthen accessibility, special Braille identification tiles have been installed outside classrooms from Grade 1 to Grade 12. These tactile markers help students identify their classrooms independently, encouraging self-confidence, self-reliance, and easier navigation throughout the school.

Dr. Arvinder Singh Highlights the Importance of Accessible Education

Addressing students and staff during the programme, Dr. Arvinder Singh emphasized that accessibility is not a privilege but a fundamental right.

He stated that the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, along with various judicial pronouncements, recognizes accessibility as an essential requirement for ensuring equal educational opportunities. Without accessible infrastructure, students with disabilities often face unnecessary barriers in their academic journey.

Sharing his personal journey, Dr. Singh encouraged students to remain determined and confident despite challenges. He reminded them that physical limitations should never become barriers to achievement and success.

Legal Support for Inclusive Development

Chief Guest Mr. Kuldeep Sharma appreciated the initiative and assured continued legal support for efforts aimed at protecting the rights and interests of persons with disabilities.

The programme highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions, social organizations, and legal authorities in building a more inclusive society.

Commitment to Disability Rights and Accessibility

Dr. Arvinder Singh reaffirmed his commitment to creating accessible environments and advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities through Panacea Disability Activists.

The initiative represents another meaningful step toward ensuring that students with disabilities can access education with dignity, independence, and equal opportunity.

The school’s Principal, Mrs. Neelam Maheshwari, along with faculty members and staff, expressed gratitude to Dr. Arvinder Singh, Panacea Disability Activists, and all supporters who contributed to the successful implementation of the project.

The programme was also attended by Dimple Suhalka (Administrative Head), Kanika Kalyan (Legal Head), Kanishka Shrimali, and other members associated with the initiative.
